A leading manufacturer with state of the art manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico seeks a Supply Chain Director. This position will provide direction to the Materials team, by being an integral member of the plant leadership team and guiding the planning and material handling areas. Will develop relationships with divisional operations staff and others in the overall supply chain (purchasing, distribution, customer service, etc.) is a key part of this position. Effectively prioritizing activities and utilizing resources will be critical to meeting the demands of the organization. This position must partner with the business units to support their planning needs. Continually sensing the organization, surfacing issues, and pro-actively addressing them, will be important to the success of the business. Providing materials expertise and creating systems to support on-going issues in the organization are key to building an organization than can respond to the needs of the present and future of the site.

 

Primary duties include:

 

Make an assessment of needs, creation of systems and metrics based on needs, driving improvements to increase overall service, order turnaround speed, and inventory turns. Partnering with other operations functions to resolve issues throughout the chain; facilitating development of planning skills within business units. Creating programs and systems to train, communicate, and motivate shop floor business partners. Establish liaison among plants, cross functional groups, and divisional organizations to achieve corporate-wide objectives. Establish operating plans and budgets for the material's function. Includes forecast plans or budget discrepancies and corrective action as required. Develop processes and policies that optimize material flow, inventory management, and asset utilization. Direct all warehouse operations including receiving and shipping, material movement and handling, inventory accuracy, and transactional integrity. Manage master scheduling and inventory control functions. Accountabilities include development, measurement, and achievement of inventory targets. Hire, train, develop, and retain a strong materials team to efficiently and effectively perform the material's function and achieve its stated goals.

Master scheduling activities including monitoring and controlling changes in demand as it relates to available material and capacity.

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in supply chain, with a minimum of 15 years in a senior materials management role, with solid experience working within manufacturing, dealing with high volume products and multiple distribution centers.
  • Experience in the Electronic Industry a Must in order to qualify. Candidates from the Contract Manufacturing Industry are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous change management experience preferred.
  • B.S. in Business related field (Logistics, Materials Management, Engineering, etc). Masters degree preferred.
  • APICS Certified (CPIM) a plus.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing planning and scheduling systems, including MRP, DRP and forecasting; able to achieve both high customer service levels and high inventory turns through good inventory management practices, balancing overall business needs.
  • Excellent leadership skills required, strong team player with the ability to work multi-functional teams in all levels of the organization from high performance work teams to senior management; capable tactical skills and demonstrated functional expertise; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; has potential for future advancement.
  • Possesses good project management and organizational skills; has a working knowledge of industry standards, has a solid analytical and statistical background; maintains a broad-based business perspective.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and problem solving skills is critical; must be easy to work with and able to translate technical details into tangible concepts; effective team builder and self-starter, action/results oriented. Builds strong communication network with other functional areas and effectively utilizes available resources.
  • Must have demonstrated consistent growth, a proven record of management, and strong process knowledge, ideally in a related industry.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish a must.
