Description:

• Our client is a Medical Device leader seeking a General Manager to lead and establish excellence within its large multi plant manufacturing operation in Tijuana, Mexico.
• Provides leadership and direction to all manufacturing areas and Human Resources, Materials, Procurement, IT, and Accounting/Finance.
• Provides a vision for the Manufacturing Process that aligns and moves the department toward the organization's vision.
• Directs and coordinates 5 overall Focus Factory Managers and their respective business unit operations.
• Ensures that specific, measurable, objectives are set and achieved consistent with quality requirements and cost effectiveness initiatives.
• Oversees any manufacturing activities, within respective responsibilities, for their legalities and takes timely, adequate action when necessary.
• Participates in establishing company objectives as a leader of the management team.
• Responsible for a safe working environment and the well being of team mates. Develops organizational effectiveness through coaching, training and individual team skill development, creating a positive working atmosphere that fosters empowerment.
• Develops continuous improvement philosophy throughout the manufacturing operation.
• Develops programs to reduce worker turnover and increase employee morale. Leads the development and execution of strategic business plans for manufacturing. 
• Recruits, trains and develops staff.
• Promotes internal customer relationships throughout the organization.
• Aligns the organization with customer requirements and the needs of the business.  
• Develops operating budgets and implements controls to ensure adherence to the budget. 
• Assures key metrics and indicators are reached.
• Challenges and enables associates to develop leadership skills with associates at all levels to proactively respond to internal / external customer and the business needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree, a technical degree is preferred.
• MBA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of seven years in medical device manufacturing with a proven track record of steady improvement and accomplishments.
• Minimum seven years of experience as a General Manager or similar for a large manufacturing plant (or preferably multiple plants) totaling at least 1000 employees.  
• Previous experience overseeing operation in Mexico is preferred. 
• Ability to openly communicate with employees at all levels & to headquarters. Problem solves through root cause analysis and interacts with employees with a hands-on style.
• Experience in stretch goal setting and implementing a process to monitor progress towards achieving the expected objectives.
• Knowledgeable and experienced implementing continuous improvement methods and LEAN manufacturing methodologies. 
• Six Sigma certification a plus.
