Plant Manager will have total manufacturing responsibility over the Ensenada, Mexico Plant.  This plant is comprised of approximately 800 employees working in a multicultural environment.  The plant manager shall be responsible for all production departments including Assembly and Sub-Assembly.  Responsibilities include Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Production Planning, Human Resources, Import/Export, Warehouse/Material Control, and Safety and Health. This position will work closely with Finance, Sourcing and Purchasing, IT and Business Applications, R&D, Services Center, National Sales, and Scheduling with either a straight or dotted line reporting basis.

Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Essential Functions:

           

·         Directs activities through subordinate Staff; coaching and development to attain production goals consistent with safety, cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

·         Productivity, efficiency improvements and promote continuous improvement environment

·         Sets factory goals (short term and long term), plans, and executes, according to the company business needs and direction

·         Coordinates production activities with other functions such as material, new product development, customer service, manufacturing engineering, inspection and the like. 

·         Overall responsibilities include production-related activities such as material planning/control, manufacturing, engineering, facilities maintenance, etc.

·         This position is the legal representative; he/she is directly responsible of all legal commitments with Local and Federal Government through all departments in charge.

·         Responsible of the business relationship with DW- Drums and Services Center.

·         Responsible of safeguarding the property and Assets of the Company in Mexico (Confidential Information, Copyright  and follow up and achieve the recommendation of the Insurance Companies)

·         Inform all corporate authorities on the financial and operational results for Mexico.  Develop and follow-up on budget and forecast.

 

Requirements:

 

·         The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12 years experience in Manufacturing (i.e. Assembly) with at least 3 years as a Plant Manager preferably in a large maquiladora operation in Mexico.  Experience in woodworking required.

·         Shop Floor Focus and hands-on mentality

·         Previous experience in a low to mid volume and high product mix model assembly operation preferred.

·         Working Knowledge of TPS / Lean Manufacturing practices. (A3, Value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen Activities, Poke-Yoke, SMED, Self Directed Teams, etc.) Experienced in Continuous Improvement methodologies and strategic thinking.

·         Demonstrated leadership and management skills including: structured work, training and coaching, and teamwork approach. Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and effectively manage conflicts.

·         Familiar with scientific problem solving methods (i.e. PDCA, A3, etc) and coaching others to solve problems

·         Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and superior negotiation skills.

·         Strong Microsoft Office skills, understanding of ERP systems.

·         Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) required. Bicultural skills are required.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field.  MBA a plus.
