Our client is a worldwide leader manufacturing air management solutions for the commercial, industrial and residential sectors who seeks a Controller to oversee controllership duties and Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis for a large manufacturing plant in Monterrey as follows:

 

  • P&L responsibility
  • Sets and drives execution of AOP financial objectives, capital plans, and lead plant LRP planning process.
  • Partner with operations to manage DPO and inventory turns to improve overall working capital position.
  • Analyzes budgets and forecasts and provides recommendations to management to drive business results to achieve the goals.
  • Develop a robust forecast with the goal of forecast accuracy of 90%, operating income, and operating cash flow.
  • Maintain a robust and effective internal control environment.
  • Primary interface with internal/external auditors and responsible for locations compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • Compliance: Directs a continuing review of the division's accounting practices and reporting to ensure their correctness, appropriateness, and conformance to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Financial Corporate Accounting Policies (FICAP) and Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Project Management and Process Improvement
  • Evaluates new business for third parties.
  • Assimilates, evaluates, and correlates associated risk/benefit trade-offs of project proposals and subsequent tracking and reporting to ensure achievement of planned return on investment.
  • Develops sound business plans for new products and processes. Business case development and analysis. Capital and investment project evaluation. NPV and ROIC analysis.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives (lean six sigma and business transformation)
  • Financial Leadership and Communication
  • Effectively communicate with business leaders across all functional disciplines. Partner with operations leadership to develop operations strategy and drive the translation of strategic goals into actionable/measurable business plan. Drive operational excellence, improve margins and execute business plan.
  • Monthly communication of financial results to local business management and staff
  • Talent Management: Manage and develop an accounting staff of five individuals.
  • Share and/or implement best practices.
  • Cost Accounting and Inventory Control
  • Partner with operations to manage and oversee physical inventory and cycle counts and insure proper controls and safe-guarding of inventory, supplies, and fixed assets.
  • Responsible for development consistent costing methodologies, which include standard cost setting and inventory valuation.

 

Candidate Requirements:

 

  • 10 years extensive experience in finance or accounting in a manufacturing company.
  • At least 3 years experience as a Controller, Finance Manager or FP&A Manager.
  • Experience in maquiladora operations in Mexico highly preferred. 
  • Must have very strong standard cost accounting and financial planning and analysis experience (budgets and forecasts).
  • Must possess a progressive track record of upward mobility and stable job progression.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong leadership, presentation skills, and influencing skills.
  • Able to explain and communicate financial results to management in an understandable and actionable format for decision-making purposes. 
  • Strong computer and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with MBA preferred.  CPA and/or CMA are also desirable.
