Description:

World Class company seeks a Materials Manager to oversee all aspects of the Purchasing, Customer Service, Order Planning, Material Planning, Production Scheduling, Traffic, and import export and tool crib activities. Provides strategic and tactical direction to salaried and hourly production and support staff employees in a manufacturing/assembly environment. The Materials Manager is accountable for maintaining good labor relations with the union.

Position’s Responsibilities:

·         Serve as a member of the Monterrey plant manager's leadership team

·         Lead the operational procurement and delivery of all commodities providing the best value to the Corporation

·         Own the Direct and Indirect Materials and Logistics spend at the plant

·         Deliver annual operational objectives in cost, delivery, quality, inventory turns and dollars, and budget

·         Integrate supplier and procurement activities with manufacturing operations in order to insure cost-effective design changes

·         Maintain, control and manage Finished Goods and RIP inventories including physical inventory cycles

·         Manage and maintain importation records associated with Maquila programs

·         Manage all inbound and outbound shipping and receiving activities including receipts of incoming materials and movement of materials within the factory

·         Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships; fully understand supplier capabilities and limitations

·         Participate in and/or lead multiple plant logistics and materials projects

·         Responsible for overall performance of assigned work group, including safety, quality, cost and output schedule performance

·         Responsible for coaching and improving individual employee performance to acceptable standards, including but not limited to workmanship, attendance, safety and job performance

·         Implement plant wide communication plans and initiatives with employees in area of responsibility.

·         Serve as primary communication vehicle between leadership team and employees

·         Proactive support of plant wide safety program, including ongoing maintenance of a safe working environment for employees

·         Manages departmental performance metrics, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager

·         Assures employees are consistently being trained and developed so that talent is retained and succession plans remove gaps in bench strength

·         Apply human resources tools and processes across the organization to meet the business needs


Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor's degree in supply chain, or other relevant fields

·         APICS certification a plus

·         Minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment and as materials manager position

·         Energy and drive to deliver objectives on time, on budget, and on target

·         Ability to listen to customers and translate into accurate, actionable specifications

·         Ability to effectively adapt to change (environment, requirements, roles, objectives)

·         Bilingual - must be fluent in English and Spanish

·         Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification preferred

·         Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools a plus

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish

·         Demonstrated ability to define & resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions using six sigma methodologies

·         Ability to travel to U.S. when necessary to attend business meetings required
