THE JOB

Job Summary:

The Materials Manager is responsible for the management of production scheduling, materials planning (buyer planners – purchase order management) inventory control, and warehousing to support manufacturing and associated activities of the Reynosa, Mexico facility. Position reports to the Regional Director of Materials and dotted line to the Plant Manager.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:

  • Integrates quality at the source thinking and activities in daily, individual, team and project work. (Applies to all job duties 100%)
  • Supervise the production planning / control and inventory control functions in accordance with established goals and objectives.
  • Direct and control the Warehouse organizational structure to get functional programs that support the operations that involve business.
  • Develop long and short-term plans and projects in areas of responsibility to achieve the desired objectives and support the strategy of the company.
  • Direct the development and execution of procedures in production and inventory control (P&IC) and Warehouse to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Follow the overall plan and effectively administer the responsibility of providing equitable work and the proper atmosphere to achieve objectives in the areas of employee relations, manpower development and training (Best experience).
  • Directs & coordinates activities of subordinates (Warehouse supervisors (2), Buyer Planners – Material Coordinators (8), cycle counters, etc.) to ensure effective management and cost control related to inventories.
  • Keeps the VP of Ops, managers and staff informed periodic of results /improvements of our operations areas.
  • Recommend procedures that reduce the cost of the material handling process. Support the planning & production control department of other facilities.
  • Teaming with others in the implementation of latest programs/ projects for the Reynosa facility.
  • Support BEx strategy.
  • Analyzes information to share with others (year objectives and metrics)

THE CANDIDATE

Candidate Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor degree required
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Materials Manager or similar in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated Management / supervision skills.
  • Experience in purchasing & raw materials planning (buyer/planning), manufacturing control systems, inventory control (warehousing), Master scheduling, production planning, MRP and production control and distribution requirements planning.
  • Automotive manufacturing background is a plus. Build to order experience a plus.
  • APICS – CPIM certification or similar a plus.
