Our client seeks a Plant Manager to support both of their sites in Mexico. This position will oversee the operations for both sites; Tijuana and Queretaro, with a total headcount of 150 employees. The responsibilities include managing the manufacturing, quality, logistics/supply chain, and maintenance processes. Consistent supervision and knowledge of Import/Export Compliance and Local legislation compliance. We’re looking for someone to lead the organization and direct activities so that all products are manufactured in a safe work environment, according to schedule, and within the required quality standards and cost objectives.
THE JOB
Position Specifications:
Recruiting for an Operations Manager to support the Seals & Profiles business for both of our sites in Mexico. This position will oversee the operations for 2 sites, Tijuana and Queretaro, with a total headcount under management of 145 employees. The responsibilities include managing the manufacturing, quality, logistics/supply chain and maintenance processes across all sites. Consistent supervision and knowledge over Import/Export compliance and Local legislation compliance. We are looking for someone to lead the organization and direct activities so that all products are manufactured in a safe work environment, according to schedule, and within the required quality standards and cost objectives.
The role will cover our 2 sites in Mexico –Tijuana and Queretaro. Travel will be up to 15%. The position will require periodic trips to Queretaro as well as infrequent meetings or visits to the US (Aurora, OH or Milford, NH)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Is the overall responsible for the operational performance at the site.
- Assists in the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategic planning in order to meet our targets and objectives.
- Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes processes and procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
- Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards in order to improve productivity and reduce scrap.
- Maintains optimum direct labor levels while still being able to meet or exceed our customer’s required delivery and service levels.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, problem solving, and improved safety and drives this into the culture of the Operations organization.
- Directs the corrective action process as a result of internal or external quality claims.
- Drives and coordinates Manufacturing Excellence activities across all sites in cooperation and alignment with the BU and Group standards (i.e., 5S, OEE, SMED, S@W, etc.)
- Drives the Sales & Operations planning processes and capacity planning activities that support future growth while maintaining appropriate working capital levels.
- Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., footprint optimizations, plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
- Directs and monitors department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
- Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff in order to build a high performing Operations team. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
- Ensures all legislations, Import/export, Taxes, Labor, EHS local and customer requirements are met keeping consistent evidence.
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required. KPI’s:
- Financial – EBIT, ROS, OCF, and WC
- Operational – OTD, DIO, COPQ, OEE, and LWC
Key interface with:
- Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Logistics/Supply Chain staff

THE CANDIDATE
Candidate Requirements:
- University diploma with a bachelor’s degree (Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain preferred) 5+ years in a manufacturing operations leadership position (i.e. Plant Manager or similar) with a proven history of achieving results
- Manufacturing operations and production processes – extrusion or injection molding preferred
- Lean manufacturing and Six-Sigma training
- Proven leadership and management of multi-functional teams. (i.e. Plant Manager or similar)
- Multi-national company experience (not required but helpful)
