Regional Procurement Director – Mexico

Our client is a publicly traded world-class provider of specialty medical devices for a range of procedures in critical care and surgery with global operations in over 40 countries.
THE POSITION
This role will be responsible for the delivery of strategic and long-term procurement deliverables for the Mexico Region – specifically, it will focus on :
- Supporting the Regional Operations team in delivering an “End to End” Best In Class Supply Chain Strategy
- Shaping and delivering company Global Procurement strategy and delivering same within the Mexico region
- Working with other Regional Operations leaders as part of a vibrant and dynamic cross functional team
- Developing strategies to build a resilient, compliant and sustainable supply base
- Driving innovation and value in delivering CIP commitments in line with Company’s strategic plan
- Working with other Regional Operations leaders as part of a vibrant and dynamic cross functional team
- Ensuring the region supports the wider sustainability and ESG strategy, and more specifically as it relates to ethical sourcing, science-based targets and mitigating physical and transition risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Together with the Regional Operations SLT and the Global Procurement SLT shape and set the direction of Company’s overall Procurement strategy.
- Drive the execution of procurement strategies ensuring local supply chain resiliency, value creation and innovation.
- Lead local procurement teams – drive performance by developing an inclusive an empowered organization which is constantly developing and adapting to the current and emerging business needs.
- Develop organization capabilities which can respond to a dynamic business environment. Recruit and maintain high performing procurement professionals.
- Ensure the development of the procurement team by maintaining objectives, development plans, performance reviews and succession plans for all team members.
- Ensure the execution of standards, controls, policies, procedures and performance metrics such that that all procurement activity complies with best-in-class benchmarks in delivering a compliant and sustainable supply chain
- Maintain strong working relationships with critical suppliers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.
- Ensure suppliers provide access for audits and submit data as required to assess their compliance and progress in supporting Company sustainability objectives and targets.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure that sourcing strategies gain traction and are successful.
- Conduct periodic business review meetings with key partners to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify potential CIP and supply improvement opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional teams to develop and qualify the next generation of replacement materials, processes and process solutions for product enhancement opportunities.
- Identify any risks and develop mitigation plans as appropriate
- Meet current and anticipate and plan for future regulatory requirements
Other Responsibilities
- Actively drive key talent development through coaching, mentoring, development assignments and other formal / informal actions and systems.
- Liaise and work with other managers to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of strategic procurement programs
- Ensure that all appropriate requirements of the applicable quality systems are adhered to.
- Develop and maintain appropriate KPIs (e.g., product plan, project milestones, capital expenditure requirements, strategic programs expenses, carbon footprint, ethical ratings etc.
THE CANDIDATE

- Minimum 10 years’ experience in sourcing, in a Senior Procurement Leadership role, preferably in the Medical Device, Electronics or Automotive industry
- Knowledge of advanced purchasing and negotiation methods are required
- Engineering knowledge ideally in a Medical Device or high volume regulated manufacturing environment.
- A solid understanding of the working knowledge of FDA/ISO/CE Regulatory Requirements, as well as knowledge of Certified Standards.
- Experience with MRP systems
- Ability to influence across functions and across multiple supply points globally to achieve objectives.
- Proven networking skills – must be able to network internally across all functions and externally.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills: strong knowledge & partnering ability with all business functions
- Strong influencing , communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Visio.
- Experience working in a matrix organization.
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions under deadline pressure
- Teamwork especially in a matrix management organization.
Education/Training:
- Degree Level or Equivalent in relevant subject or demonstrable relevant business experience
- MBA desirable
