As part of this growth, they are seeking a highly skilled and driven Accounting Manager to join their world-class Mexicali campus, supporting two dynamic product divisions and five business units. A dedicated BU Controller leads each business unit, and the ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving financial excellence and compliance across the organization. The role reports directly to the Mexicali Campus Controller and offers a clear pathway to future leadership within the finance organization.

THE POSITION

As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for leading statutory accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and tax compliance across multiple manufacturing sites and business units in Mexicali. General Accounting Responsibilities:

• Oversee and execute massive and manual journal entry uploads using Microsoft Dynamics AX for accurate and timely P&L reporting.
• Ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations are aligned with Contpaq (Statutory Accounting).
• Approve accounts payable processes on a weekly basis, maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Payroll Oversight:

• Lead payroll review and approvals, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Validate proper tax withholdings for employees.
• Oversee department-level payroll approval setups in TRESS.
• Ensure all payroll concepts are tax compliant.
• Manage Christmas Bonus (Aguinaldo) calculations and tax withholdings.
• Administer employee profit-sharing and savings fund distributions annually.

Fiscal & Tax Responsibilities (Mexico):

• Lead the preparation and timely submission of monthly federal tax prepayments.
• Ensure accurate payments to Social Security and Housing Fund institutions.
• Oversee state payroll tax filings and payments.
• Manage annual income tax return processes for both the company and employees.
• Coordinate the annual Social Security risk prime calculation.
• Perform Safe Harbor calculations for corporate compliance (2025 onward).

THE CANDIDATE

We’re looking for a financial leader who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment and has the potential to grow into a Controller role within 3 to 5 years.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA a plus)
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written)
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience in similar positions such as Accounting Manager, Accounting Leader in the maquiladora industry.
• Proven supervisory and team leadership skills
• Expertise in general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and Mexico fiscal law
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with TRESS and Contpaq systems; Microsoft Dynamics AX experience is highly desirable
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical rigor, and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong work ethic, collaborative mindset, and results-oriented approach.
• Mexico Fiscal & Regulatory Knowledge Required:

• Mexican Income Tax Law
• Value Added Tax (VAT) regulations
• Social Security and INFONAVIT contributions
• Mexican Labor and Employment Law
• Customs and import/export regulations (IMMEX program)
• Applicable state tax laws
