Our client is a global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control, and automation technology – offering products, drive solutions, complete automation systems and engineering services and tools from one single source. Founded over 75 years ago in Germany, they are able to support their customer throughout the entire machine development process – from the control system to the drive shaft and from the initial idea to after-sales. Their products can be found in many industries, including automotive, packaging, material handling and logistics, robotics, converting and printing, and industrial equipment. They have a global network of distributors and representatives which makes our client perfectly positioned to meet the motion control needs of customers worldwide. Almost two years ago, they formally directly started a Mexico sales operation and are seeking to drive growth and expansion.

THE POSITION

Job Summary:
The Sales Account Manager is responsible for driving new customer acquisitions and expanding existing OEM accounts within target markets by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, executing strategic sales plans, and delivering technical presentations. Working closely with the Channel Sales team, the Sales Account Manager actively supports distributor performance to ensure alignment within strategic objectives. The Account Manager collaborates with internal teams and must acquire a solid understanding of the companies’ technical solutions and market trends. This position is based in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Job Responsibilities:

New Customer Acquisition

  • Proactively pursue new OEM customer opportunities and develop strategic plans to penetrate new accounts and grow market share
  • Conduct prospecting activities like cold calls and networking and collaborating with local channel managers and distribution networks when appropriate
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations and work with local application engineering resources to meet customers’ technical needs

Account Expansion

  • Strengthening relationships with existing customers to uncover new applications and upselling opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to tailor solutions and expand wallet share within current accounts
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively address issues to ensure long-term loyalty
  • Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and manage them through the sales cycle
  • Achieve or exceed annual sales targets.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence to leadership

Technical Expertise & Support

  • Coordinate technical resources for customers, highlighting how the customer will benefit from a company solution
  • Stay current on product developments, industry trends, and competitor offerings
  • Support product launches and customer onboarding with hands-on technical guidance

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with product management, engineering, and marketing to align customer needs with company capabilities
  • Document customer interactions, feedback, and sales activities in CRM systems.
  • Participate in regular sales meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

THE CANDIDATE

Candidate Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related work experience
  • 5+ years of technical sales or related sales experience (i.e., Sales Manager, Account Manager, Sr. Sales Engineer, Sales Executive or similar)
  • Demonstrated success hunting new OEM customers and expanding sales at existing accounts
  • History of documented sales growth in similar role
  • Strong understanding of gearmotors (gear boxes), VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives), servo drive systems and/or general motion control
  • Proven experience in technical sales, or business development withing the automation sector.
  • Skilled in managing complex commercial situations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with engineering teams and decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated competitive sales professional who takes initiative, is resilient, results-oriented, organized and makes things happen.
  • Skilled in pipeline management and CRM usage
  • Willingness to travel 30% up to 50% of the time for customer visits, trade shows, and training sessions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP, preferred
  • Fluent in English (75%+) and Spanish
