They are one of the top recognized ultra-premium brands in the world.  As they continue to grow and expand their operations, they are seeking a talented and experienced Plant Engineering Manager (equipment and facilities maintenance) to join our highly talented team in Alvarado, Texas (30 minutes outside of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas metroplex. 

THE POSITION

As a Plant Engineering Manager specializing in wearable goods manufacturing, you will play a key role in overseeing the technical aspects of our manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in the manufacturing industry of wearable goods and a strong background in engineering principles and practices including equipment maintenance and facilities maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance Management: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of machinery and equipment.
  2. Process Optimization: Lead and manage engineering projects related to the manufacturing of wearable goods, from design and development to implementation and optimization.
  3. Equipment Upgrades and Installations: Conduct regular assessments of manufacturing processes and equipment to identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization. 
  4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to production teams to resolve issues and minimize downtime.
  5. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations governing manufacturing operations, including waste water treatment operation.
  6. Stay informed of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in wearable goods manufacturing to drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  7. Training and Development: Mentor and train junior engineering staff to develop technical competencies and foster a culture of excellence within the organization.
  8. Facilities Management: Responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of existing and new buildings, facilities, and grounds. This includes managing maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs with internal and external resources (contractors), and renovations, and ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and in optimal condition.

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, ideally with a focus on wearable goods production or similar (like soft goods, apparel, furniture, cut & sew, etc.)  with at least 5 years as a Maintenance & Facilities Manager or similar.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering projects and driving process improvements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials used in the production of wearable goods.
  • Some experience with facilities management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience with any CMMS and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and developing talent within the engineering team.
  • Fluent in Spanish
