THE POSITION
The Demand Planner is responsible for ensuring accurate and dynamic demand planning for fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries), aligning commercial demand with agricultural production capacity, seasonality, and international market trends.
This role plays a critical part in strengthening supply chain visibility and decision-making, supporting efforts to optimize inventory, minimize waste, and maximize profitability in a fastmoving, highly seasonal agribusiness environment.
Main Responsibilities
Demand Planning & Forecast Accuracy
Develop and maintain demand forecasts aligned with production capacity and commercial commitments.
- Analyze historical sales, consumption trends, and seasonal behavior by crop and market.
- Build and continuously adjust demand projections based on real-time market conditions.
- Identify risks of overproduction or stockouts and propose mitigation strategies.
Data Management & Forecast Automation
Ensure data integrity and leverage analytical tools to improve forecast reliability.
- Maintain updated demand and production databases.
- Automate demand analysis using advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Apply statistical forecasting models (time series, regression, ARIMA) to support projections.
Cross-Functional Coordination (S&OP)
Serve as a key planning partner across the organization.
- Coordinate closely with Procurement, Commercial, Logistics, and Packaging to align supply and demand.
- Participate actively in S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) meetings.
- Integrate demand input from key customers and commercial teams into planning cycles.
Inventory Monitoring & Supply Alignment
Support inventory optimization across packing facilities and destination markets.
- Monitor inventory levels and flows across the supply chain.
- Align demand plans with logistics and operational constraints.
- Support service level performance while minimizing waste.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
Track and improve demand planning performance.
- Monitor forecast accuracy, fill rate, waste, and delivery performance.
- Analyze deviations between forecasted and actual demand to identify root causes.
- Propose process improvements to strengthen demand planning maturity over time.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is an analytical and structured demand planning professional with experience in agribusiness or perishable goods. They are comfortable working with data, forecasting models, and cross-functional teams, and thrive in environments where accuracy and speed directly impact financial and operational results.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analytics.
- Experience in agroindustry, fresh produce, or perishable goods environments.
- Exposure to S&OP processes and cross-functional planning forums.
- Experience working with ERP systems and planning data structures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Agribusiness, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
- Knowledge of forecasting methodologies (time series, regression, ARIMA).
