THE COMPANY

Our client is a high growth global leader in the distribution of adhesives, sealants, solder, coatings, specialty chemicals and solvents.  They serve a variety of industries in North America, South America, Europe and Asia including electronics, aerospace, transportation, solar, general industrial, OEM and Contract Manufacturers. As a result of high growth, they seek a General Manager, Mexico Operations to be based in their Guadalajara, Mexico office and distribution center reporting to the GM of the company based in the U.S. headquarters.

THE JOB

Job Summary:

The General Manager, Mexico Operations oversees the management, functions and duties of Customer Service, Inventory Management, Logistics, Import/Export and warehousing/ inventory control. This role is responsible for the support and management of general operations and personnel at Mexico corporate and satellite Mexico locations within the organization. In addition, this role is responsible for implementing and enforcing company policies.  This position will report to the GM.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building and maintaining a team consisting of members of various departments including customer service inventory management, logistics, import/export and warehousing / inventory control to ensure a team approach towards a goal of meeting or exceeding customer demands and satisfaction.
  • Develops a working knowledge of company operations and meets with appropriate personnel to address strategy and ideas for optimizing operations within the company.
  • Establishes and maintains positive effective relationships with all suppliers, vendors and manufacturers associated with our company at a local level.
  • Establish goals and direct operations of all Warehouses, meeting regularly with warehouse supervisors to review productivity, quality, fulfillment, & safety.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of products to customers and the effective response to customer requests, problems, and requirements. Documenting issues and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures within primary areas of responsibility.
  • Evaluate and complete distribution projects including productivity, inventory, manpower and workflows, as assigned.
  • Supports sales department in Mexico.
  • Participate in the development of annual budgets and responsible for obtaining the budget for areas of this roles responsibility.
  • Responsible for identifying, anticipating, and resolving problems and setting policies to effectively deal with such issues or problems in a timely manner to maintain a smooth, effective operation.
  • Ensures conformance to all policies, procedures, and regulations including AS/ISO, OSHA, DOT, and any other Regulatory bodies as required.
  • Ensures building and all associated maintenance are performed as needed, including maintenance and responsibility for Emergency Evacuation Floor Layout, ensuring Forklift training, operation/maintenance.
  • Ensures compliance with Quality Management System and manages that all necessary Quality System training is completed and facilitates all recordkeeping associated with the Quality Management System (training records, job descriptions, Monthly Quality Meeting minutes, etc.)
  • Attends and facilitates meetings as necessary including quality meetings, training meetings, and Strategic Management meetings.
  • Effectively interprets and conveys company employee policies, and Employee Handbook.
  • Ensures that all employees are trained and informed on how to do their jobs effectively.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work as needed.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and is responsible for appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems and grievances.
  • Provide effective leadership and develop team members through effective hiring, coaching, performance management, and training at all facilities.
  • Maintain current required certifications for self and teams and prevent individuals from performing activities above and beyond their certifications.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and present recommendations to management.
  • Compiles composite reports from individual reports of subordinates required by management or government agencies.
  • Supervises and participates in preparing and auditing materials requiring analyses of supporting documents and ensures that all entries are entered into the system properly.
  • Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective action.
  • Assists in determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow in the area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

THE CANDIDATE

Candidate Qualifications:

  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role in Mexico (prefer General Manager but will consider an Assistant General Manager, Sr Operations Manager or similar).
  • Highly prefer experience in a company dedicated to distribution of products or components to industrial sector, but open to manufacturing, or logistics company.
  • Experience or knowledge with logistics, warehousing, inventory control, and customer service.
  • Familiarity with import/export and customs a plus.
  • Possesses good business acumen and math skills. (Understands and manages P&L).
  • Must be process oriented and able to establish more robust processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Works well independently and is a self-starter.
  • Empathetic servant leader who is a good coach, a consensus builder, and a team player.
  • The ideal candidate thinks outside the box, is a curious individual who likes to ask questions, possesses good listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office.  Experience with CRM and ERP highly preferred.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Valid U.S. Visa is preferred.
