We have been retained by a global leader in high speed and high-density connection systems dedicated to delivering innovative products and services to their customers worldwide. This global leader has sales of over $11 billion USD and currently seeks a Financial Controller to oversee all finance for two manufacturing business entities. This Financial Controller must have a strong financial background to join a growing operation in Mexicali, BC, Mexico that manufactures High Speed Cable Products for telecommunications and many other sectors.
THE POSITION
Job Summary:
Main objectives for the business unit financial controller are to provide accurate weekly and monthly P&L forecasts for 2 separate business entities and help identify and drive operating cost and material cost down projects. A successful candidate must interact with operations teams frequently and be willing to work within all levels of the organization. This Financial Controller will be based in Mexicali, Baja California Mexico and support two businesses.
Main Responsibilities:
- Create and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts etc.).
- Provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
- Update the management team with current month results every week to identify any gaps to forecast.
- Develop financial models and tools to improve forecasting process.
- Work with management team to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making.
- Drive process and policy development initiatives that impact operational performance.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly P&L and variances between forecast and actual.
- Investigate and help fix (if required) any material variance issues.
- Fixed assets control – manage inventory every 5 years, periodically determine whether any assets are impaired. Also work with operations to request and follow up on capital investments.
- Support and audit semi-annual physical inventory (May and November).
- Perform month-end closing, including accruals, misc. journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Various projects and assignments in support of corporate or divisional data collection/ financial analysis.
- KPI’s are defined on a monthly basis according to the operation’s goals of the Plant Manager for each business; these will be reviewed twice per month.
THE CANDIDATE
- Previous experience as a hands-on Finance Manager or Financial Controller with a strong finance background in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Mexico.
- Strong financial reporting and analysis skills in a manufacturing environment (minimum 5 years of experience)
- Strong background in financial forecasting and budgets, standard cost accounting and information analysis.
- Experienced with Fixed Asset Control and CAPEX.
- Well informed on current accounting rules and regulations (Mexico and USA).
- Very proficient in excel, ERP and financial software applications (AX Dynamics preferred)
- The ideal candidate will be proactive, agile, diligent, disciplined, have a continuous improvement mindset and a strong leader who is a team player.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- English and Spanish fluency (written and spoken)
