THE COMPANY

We have been retained to by a global leader in high speed and high-density connection systems who solves system design challenges with integrated interconnect solutions for application in networking, communications, data storage, and computer server markets. This global leader currently seeks a Materials Manager with a focus on planning to be part of team to lead a plant operations in Mexicali, BC Mexico.  This plant manufactures bulk cables for high-speed IO products. This will be a highly automated plant with core wire extrusion, wrapping, cabling, and jacketing. The position reports to the Plant Manager.

THE POSITION

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plans and organizes the work of his/her unit in a systematic and methodical manner and manages a team of material buyers and planners.
  • Has the responsibility for determining the requirements, production planning / programming, materials warehousing at a minimum cost.
  • Maintains timely contacts with suppliers to analyze product characteristics, quality, service conditions, price and payment.
  • Presents the offers received to internal clients, making timely indications and suggestions about suppliers, opportunities and ensures the different aspects of their management are carried out.
  • Participates in the testing and control of samples to ensure that they meet the specified conditions.
  • Controls delivery times, ensures good condition of articles / materials, and their reception.
  • Search for alternative suppliers that can supply the same products or raw materials with improved quality, better terms, lead times, and price than the current ones.
  • Monitor or inform on current inventory or stock, notifying and supporting with the design of actions on deviations due to excess or defects that may be occurring in the warehouse.
  • Manage activities based on materials planning to ensure that the necessary material meets production schedules.
  • Ensure that demand is aligned with both internal and external capacity.
  • Provide an open line of communication with sales and marketing.
  • Materials Manager will be in constant communication with production managers regarding production, planning and forecasting of customer orders for shipment fulfillment.
  • Develops strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure that there is capacity to meet demand requirements.
  • Implement VMI – Vendor Managed Inventory programs to be able to reduce inventory in the short term.
  • Responsible for inventory management to meet corporate objectives.
  • Drives sourcing initiatives for margin and quality improvements
  • Owns and execute Company’s S&OP framework including HUBs demand and replenishment
  • Implement best practices standardization and continuous improvement initiatives for AX.
  • Owns physical inventory program including HUBS
  • Owns materials cost management projects.
  • Understand, follow, and comply with Company’s code of ethics.
  • Under refers, follow, and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that refer to a common set of accounting principles, standards, and procedures.

Key performance indicators (KPI’s):

  • On time to lead time equal or better than 98%
  • On time to request equal or better than 95%
  • DM < 40%
  • PPV >1%
  • Freight < 2%

THE CANDIDATE

Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Business, Industrial Engineering or similar.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
  • More than 5 years of management experience in the electronics / cable manufacturing industry in a similar role like Supply Chain Manager, Materials Manager.
  • Strong hands-on experience with materials management, sourcing new suppliers  contract and price negotiations, and Production Planning and Materials Planning (buyer/planning).
  • Experience with cost reduction (managing detailed projects) and price reductions.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in supply chain.
  • Knowledge of AX Dynamic ERP system or other similar ERP’s. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (EXCEL, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Personnel management.
  • Focused on results; proactive, and dynamic. “Makes things happen.” Strong execution. Team player.
  • Valid U.S Tourist Visa.  Able to travel up to 25% of time.
