THE POSITION

Reporting to the Mexico VP of Operations, the Plant Manager will be responsible for leading and driving continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the Mexicali, Mexico plant with 300 employees.  This will include manufacturing (production), supply chain, logistics, inventory & warehousing, quality, and delivery to customers. The candidate will have the key skills to develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Mexicali Plant Manager will be responsible for driving the operation team towards execution of business goals using Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Monitor & improve cost productivity while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality & compliant manner.
  • Define and implement operations strategy, structure processes to meet short-and long-term objectives.
  • Create a team environment with peers, proactively communicate and resolve issues in a collaborate positive manner.
  • Establish all production schedules and meet customer’s delivery and quality expectations.
  • Improve performance through coaching, training, and implemented new tools and processes.
  • Ensure consistency in personnel policies and across the departments.
  • Provide leadership for executing New Product Introductions (NPIs).
  • Ensure sufficient capacity exists to achieve all customer commitments.
  • Be responsible for driving continuous improvements across the factory.
  • Drive Product Quality and Lean to ensure that internal business metrics are met.
  • Develop & create training plans to maximize workforce capability.
  • Continually improve plant KPI’s.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Schedule and conduct plant meetings; foster employee engagement and ensure that business and operational goals are effectively communicated to employees.
  • Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in productivity, customer service, quality, inventory and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
  • Responsible for partnering with plant and business leaders to define the key value streams that will have the greatest impact on the business and the customer.
  • Work with the operating leaders to develop strategic deployment planning as well as specific goals and priorities that drive lean principles and concept across the business.
  • Serve as a change agent by influencing, communicating and institutionalizing a culture of simplification and standardization.
  • Provide technical guidance and liaison to production operations.  Assist manager and leads on new techniques and determine causes for rework and rejected parts and their disposition.
  • Develop metrics, scorecards and other indicators to assess the effectiveness of Lean activities.
  • Communicate progress, status and issues to the business leaders.

THE CANDIDATE

Experience / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum  4-5 years of work experience with proven leadership in manufacturing, overseeing the entire plant facility with P&L (contribution margin) responsibilities.
  • Experience in low volume manufacturing and high product mix is desirable. Background in metal-mechanic or electronics is ideal (but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, variable cost productivity, and fulfillment metrics, quality systems, cost systems, and fulfillment metrics, and procedures.
  • Experience leading a cultural transformation is desirable.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, plan and execute important business and supply chain initiatives.
  • Experience with planning, supply chain and dealing with the internal sales department. Knowledge of S&OP.
  • LEAN trained with demonstrated ability to apply tools and process rigor. Six sigma certification,  or equivalent quality certification (desirable).
  • Demonstrated strategic ability yet also have the ability to “roll up your sleeves” when needed, have an exceptional mix of strategic and tactical experience.
  • Proven mentoring and coaching with demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.
  • Ability to successfully motivate and maintain high morale, employee involvement, safety and teamwork in non-union environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a complex, global, unique and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • High energy with proven leadership skills. Experience successfully managing people, projects, and issues.
  • Demonstrated ability able to influence and communicate well with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Change agent with energy, passion & enthusiasm to drive change.
  • Clear, strategic, and critical thinker; proven experience in translating strategies into actionable plan.
  • Inclusive leadership style, proven ability to build a connection with the team through personal involvement and trust with the innate ability to roll up your sleeve and change gears by delivering strategies to support the growth of the organization.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
