We have been retained to by a global leader in high speed and high-density connection systems who solves system design challenges with integrated interconnect solutions for application in networking, communications, data storage, and computer server markets. This global leader has sales of nearly $14 billion USD and currently seeks a Senior Test Engineer experienced in Signal Integrity to be the bridge between the customer and the companies’ business segment. The position will be based in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. This plant manufactures bulk cables for high-speed IO products and is undergoing aggressive growth. This is a highly automated plant with core wire extrusion, wrapping, cabling, jacketing and testing serving some of the most advanced and largest companies in the world.
THE POSITION
Job Description:
Reporting to the Senior Technology Manager, the Sr Test Engineer is a bridge between the customer and the HSIO bulk cable business segment. The Sr Test Engineer is responsible for understanding the customer’s needs, specifications, and expectations, and translating them into technical requirements for the HSIO Bulk Cable teams. The Sr Test Engineer will also be involved in testing, installing, and troubleshooting the products or systems, and providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, assisting with product installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Set-up Test Equipment.
- Oversee ICT, FCT and Signal Integrity.
- Responsible for making PFMEA, PPAP documents and APQP new product process design and development planning.
- Develop test solutions and failure analysis.
- Test method development and drive continuous improvement
- Support production online & NPI completion.
- Conduct annual performance review of Team members.
- Monitor and reduce test equipment downtime.
- Supervises 2 Technicians. Team will grow in the future as the business segment grows.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of products and solutions, staying up to date with new features and updates.
- Conduct product demonstrations and training sessions to educate customers on product capabilities and best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly, collaborating with internal engineering and support teams as needed.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides and troubleshooting procedures.
- Gather customer feedback and insights to provide input for product improvements and enhancements.
- Review and control of materials, procedures and mechanical or electrical systems to ensure that customers get high-quality, functional products.
- Manage and coordinate technical projects, ensuring successful implementation and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, product managers, and quality assurance professionals, to identify and resolve signal integrity issues.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in signal integrity analysis and testing methodologies.
THE CANDIDATE
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronic or mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years’ experience in electrical test and signal integrity. Proven experience in a very similar technical role, such as application engineering or technical support.
- Strong technical proficiency data communications cable experience or similar is required. Bulk cable fabrication is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of Analog and Digital Circuits.
- VNA – Vector Network Analyzer knowledge.
- ICT and FCT experience.
- Knowledge of major tools: FMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, control plans.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Customer-focused mindset.
- Able to travel to customer sites, as required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- U.S. Tourist Visa.
- Fluent in English (90%+) and Spanish.
