Their US Operations are headquartered in New Jersey with more than 1800 employees globally. They have Manufacturing facilities in the US, Mexico and Asia and Sales operations in the Americas.

THE POSITION

This growing global leader currently seeks a Strategic/hands-on Global Commodity Director, leading Global Commodity for North America and Asia. This position should be based remotely anywhere in Mexico.

  • This Global Commodity Director is responsible for initiating electrical and mechanical supplier strategies, negotiating and managing supplier relationships, as well as maintaining effective costs in a complex bill of materials structured environment.
  • Will also be responsible for developing strategies to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Will  negotiate commodity supply contracts with Mechanical, Electronic and Packaging Vendors, including payment terms, master service agreements and vendor management programs.
  • Will be working extensively with Quality  and Operations to ensure commodity sourcing supports new product introductions and component substitutions. Monitoring all customized parts.
  • Will be responsible for evaluating current and potential suppliers globally, regarding risk mitigation, landed costs, capacity, geographical regionalization, and assurance of supply connectivity with quality parts.
  • Will Identify opportunities to leverage existing supplier relationships, obtain price/cost reductions, rationalize/consolidate the supply base, secure favorable long-term agreements, maintain alternate supplier options, and support long-term supplier relationships.
  • Responsible for supplier scorecard including delivery performance, quality performance, cost and other performance criteria.
  • Review and work with critical suppliers in quarterly QBR updates  to improve supplier performance and forecast future needs.

THE CANDIDATE

Requirements:

  • Must have over 10-15 yrs. Manufacturing background experience In Global Commodity, with casting & Electronic components & resin experience background.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing  or supply chain management, economics, or a similar field.
  • Ability to read and understand 2D/3D drawings and discuss with suppliers in detail. Knowledge of different aluminum and steel grades. Able to communicate internally and externally in complex casting tool development and improvement.
  • Proven ability as a team player and the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to support multiple manufacturing sites around the world and map the most economical and effective supplier base, especially in any parts where tooling is required.
  • Knowledge of NPI processes and application of new products to the manufacturing plants with respect to component sourcing. Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Strong bilingual skills in English (Intermediate level).
  • Advanced command of Office 2017 parcels (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,) and internet.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well with personnel from various departments and senior managers.
  • Superior capacity to analyze data and find supply chain component solutions.
  • Solid knowledge of financial markets that influence commodity prices.
  • Experience working with commodity trading and risk management software, such as iRely and Allegro.
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors and suppliers and develop long term partnerships.
  • Knowledge in CNC machining and powder coating processes of raw casting/resin materials. 
  • Must have deep understanding in all types of electrical components, passive and active parts, especially able to work with engineering to bring in dual sources for critical transformers, capacitors, choke, and semiconductors.
  • Knowledge in resin and plastics molding process. Work with plastic molding site on all resin supplier programs, as well as potential outside service in hard coat or metallization.
