Our client is a global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technology – offering products, drive solutions, complete automation systems and engineering services and tools from one single source. Founded over 75 years ago in Germany, they are able to support their customer throughout the entire machine development process – from the control system to the drive shaft and from the initial idea to after-sales. Their products can be found in many industries, including automotive, packaging, material handling and logistics, robotics, converting and printing, and commercial equipment. They have a global network of distributors and representatives which makes our client perfectly positioned to meet the motion control needs of customers worldwide. They have recently formally directly started a Mexico sales operation and are seeking to drive growth and expansion.
THE POSITION
Objective:
The Channel Development Manager will lead the growth of our sales channels in Mexico while working closely with key managers and colleagues throughout our company. The CDM brings product, industry and account knowledge to the Distributors and works with the Regional Sales Managers to grow overall company business. This is a remote position, which should be based in Monterrey, Mexico (may consider Saltillo) or Guadalajara, Mexico. Working out of Mexico City or surrounding areas is another possibility, but not preferred.
Responsibilities:
Channel Development Strategy:
- Identify and qualify new channels partners and distributors.
- Manage the development and growth of the distributors.
- Conduct regular meetings and business reviews with distributors to ensure alignment and drive performance.
Sales and Marketing:
- Manage marketing activities in collaboration with the marketing team to develop channel-specific marketing campaigns and promotional activities.
- Provide training and support to partners on products and services.
- Conduct market research to identify new channel opportunities and emerging trends.
- Stay up to date with industry developments and competitor activities.
- Conduct joint sales calls and target account development.
- Key liaison between companies’ functions such as regional sales, industry sales, marketing, order management, and the channels.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Periodic and yearly business reviews and goal setting for sales, stock, and other KPIs.
- Monitor channel partners and distributors’ performance and analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

THE CANDIDATE
Background and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related fields or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position (i.e., Channel Distribution Manager or similar) supporting Distributors (distribution support) including demonstration of understanding of how Distributors work and their processes.
- Sales experience with products sold to industrial sector such as automotive, packaging, material handling and logistics, robotics, converting and printing, and commercial equipment is desirable.
- Solid business acumen is required.
- Ability to travel as required – up to 50% depending on location.
- Growth-oriented and self-motivated to do what it takes to get the job done right.
- Experience working with global companies – USA and/or German companies is a plus.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Collaborative team player.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficient in English (75%+) and fluent in Spanish.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to regularly sit at a desk for long periods of time and perform physical tasks including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, and reaching. Continuous mental and/or visual attention requires constant alertness to monitor warehouse processes and/or identify problems. The work environment will sometimes be in a cold warehouse setting and may be exposed to dust, fumes, dirt, noise, and water. It requires the ability to travel as needed, with occasional overnight travel. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a motor vehicle record check. Ability to meet the above description of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
