THE POSITION

We have been retained to search for a proactive and strategic Finance Director to join the company’s senior leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a finance professional with strong operational expertise in the fresh produce or agricultural sector. The Finance Director will play a key role in building and optimizing the financial and administrative functions of the company to support its continued growth. The role goes beyond traditional corporate finance and is focused on creating processes, safeguarding assets, and driving financial strategy in a fast-paced environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy and Planning: Lead the development of the company’s financial roadmap, aligning it with strategic goals. Oversee annual budgeting, long-term forecasting, and scenario modeling to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Accounting and Reporting: Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. Implement and uphold accounting policies and internal controls to meet both local and international standards.
  • Cash Flow and Capital Management: Monitor daily cash flow and working capital to ensure liquidity. Structure and secure new sources of financing to support business growth and reduce dependency on current funding partners.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Design and enforce strong internal controls, implement key performance indicators (KPIs), and lead compliance initiatives across finance and operations to protect the organization’s assets and reputation.
  • Operational Oversight: Collaborate with operations, commercial, and supply chain teams to manage costs, maintain healthy margins, and optimize procurement and inventory processes. Ensure alignment between financial planning and operational execution.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a financial thought partner to the CEO and executive leadership. Provide visibility to performance drivers and ensure transparency and responsiveness in communications with shareholders and corporate stakeholders.
  • Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a small but growing team of finance and administrative professionals. Establish scalable processes and systems to support current and future business needs.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Agroindustry Knowledge: Strong experience in finance and operations (i.e. Finance Director or similar) within fresh produce, agriculture, or perishable goods industries.
  • Start-Up & Growth Environment Experience: Comfortable building systems and teams; thrives in environments with ambiguity, Resourceful and Adaptable.
  • Hands-On Leadership Style: Willing to roll up sleeves and get involved in operational details while still thinking strategically.
  • Financial Acumen: Solid experience in financial planning, analysis, accounting, cash management, and setting up performance metrics within Agrobusiness.
  • Bilingual & Culturally Fluent: Full professional fluency in English is mandatory due to cross-border operations and partnerships.
  • Execution-Driven: Strong organizational and execution skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results under pressure.
  • Collaborative & Influential: Ability to challenge assumptions constructively, influence key stakeholders, and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Demonstrated ability to recruit, lead, and develop high-performing teams in dynamic and entrepreneurial environments.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
