Our client is a supplier of fabricated metal components and welded assemblies with a successful history of over 130 years since its foundation. They provide highly integrated, comprehensive manufacturing solutions to customers who build equipment and manage projects – ranging from locomotives to forklifts and bulldozers to power generation equipment.  They are a contract metal fabrication company with offerings that include steel fabrication, tube processing, plasma and laser cutting, metal forming, welding, machining, and more to support global OEMs in North America.

THE POSITION

Position Summary
This role manages the preparation of accurate and timely weekly/mon thly consolidated financial statements, periodic forecasts, and financial analysis needs of the companies’  Monterrey manufacturing operation based in Monterrey and serves as a liaison with plant functions such as, cost accounting, financial analysis, inventory management and participates as directed by the Mexico Controller and GM in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of OMS policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Mexico Controller and/or General Manager in directing the organization’s financial reporting, cost accounting, and budget preparation.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of financial reporting, planning, and budgeting systems.
  • Oversees the preparation of periodic reporting and required legal filings.
  • Ensures that all corporate and required accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed by the organization.
  • Supervises and trains accounting staff.
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
  • Provides input into developing budget and forecast analysis.
  • Consolidate Company and subsidiary budgets, updated forecasts and analyses.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate and timely monthly consolidated financial statements. 
  • Research, compile and analyze industry and competitor information.
  • Review operational results, recommend areas for analysis, perform analyses and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinate with Information Services regarding financial reporting issues.
  • Review (and assist in preparation of) capital expenditure (CE) requests.
  • Resolves escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

THE CANDIDATE

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have seven years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting with at least 3+ years in a similar position.
  • Manufacturing experience is required.  Familiarity with metals and metals fabrication a plus.
  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting. Master’s degree in accounting or another business-related field is a plus.
  • Solid Cost accounting knowledge and skills.
  • Strong financial analysis and interpretation, planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Able to grow at least one level above this position.
  • Effective communication, problem solving, interdepartmental coordination, developing and implementing technical ideas.
  • General knowledge of accounting systems and controls.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.  Familiarity with Epicor ERP system a plus.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
