Barbachano International has been retained by a client who is the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications to find their next Plant Manager to lead their site in Monterrey, NL Mexico. THE POSITION

Job Purpose:
The Plant Manager directs and coordinates activities of Monterrey, Mexico (San Nicolas De Los Garza, NL) plant facility to obtain optimum efficiency of operations and maximize profits. Responds to related manufacturing problems and pursues/implements remedies to such problems. Follows production and company objectives to direct work groups through subordinate managers. Assumes responsibility for cost controls, operations, quality and production inventory levels and customer order fulfillment. Manages the activities of production, facility engineering, quality control, production engineering and administrative services. Position reports to Divisional VP of Operations based in the USA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confers with executive management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of product ordered.
  • Plans and directs facility operation activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve safety, production and quality of products.
  • Coordinates with executive management, sales, marketing, technical and engineering personnel in planning, development and introduction of new products.

THE CANDIDATE

Candidate Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Business Management, Engineering or equivalent and 5 to 10 years of related hands-on GEMBA manufacturing management experience (i.e., Plant Manager, Director of Operations or similar) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • P&L Management experience with knowledge of forecasts, budget elaboration.
  • Chemical background is desired but not required.
  • Previous experience in production management is preferred.
  • Must have solid process improvement and cost reductions background.
  • Plant turnaround experience is desired.
  • Must have strong LEAN manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of IMMEX (maquiladora program) required.
  • Must have strong safety and environmental compliance experience. Experience handling chemical substances is a plus.
  • Must have valid Mexican Passport and U.S. Visa to attend training in the USA and for occasional business travel

Language Ability:  Fluent in English and Spanish.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Math Ability: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software like EXCEL.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises subordinate managers and one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
