THE POSITION
We are looking for a Senior Director of Operations to lead and oversee the operations for two manufacturing plants in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, as well as a warehouse in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico  and distribution center in Laredo, Texas.  Provides direction to two Plant Managers, Director of Materials, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Senior Business Systems Analyst, and Distribution Center Manager.  This dynamic role is pivotal in achieving operational excellence for a campus of nearly 2,000 employees. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, cost-saving initiatives, and strategic growth across multiple sites.

Location:
This role is based at the Nuevo Laredo, Mexico Campus, with the flexibility to live in either Laredo, TX or Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Relocation assistance is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage operations functions including Production, Quality, Maintenance, SCM, Program Management, Logistics, EHS, Manufacturing Engineering, and more.
  • Act as the key representative of the facility in front of senior global leadership.
  • Take full ownership of the campus P&L, ensuring financial goals are met and exceeded.
  • Drive operational excellence by implementing lean and kaizen methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Set and monitor manufacturing budgets, long-term objectives, and success metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Oversee operations policies and work closely with managers and supervisors to align strategies with customer and client needs.
  • Lead a high-performing team, selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure operational efficiency and growth.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to determine pricing, manage deliveries, and resolve customer complaints.

THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for an experienced and results-driven leader with the following qualifications:

  • Experience: 15-20 years in manufacturing, with at least 4 years in senior operational roles such as Director of Operations, General Manager, or VP of Operations, ideally overseeing multi-site operations; may consider large site leadership experience.
  • Manufacturing Industry Expertise: Preferably in automotive, interconnection solutions, metal-mechanic industries, or similar sectors.
  • Operations Management: Extensive knowledge of operations and production management, lean transformation, and P&L oversight. A proven history of driving operational efficiency, inventory reduction, and productivity improvements is essential.
  • Financial Knowledge: P&L management and budget experience.  Good business acumen with the ability to interpret financial data, as needed.
  • Transformation Experience: Successful operations and cultural transformation experience is highly desired.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership experience with a track record of successfully managing and developing motivated teams to achieve high performance.
  • Communication: Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface with C-suite executives and present effectively.
  • Behavioral Skills: Ideal candidate will be a results-oriented with a high sense of urgency, resilient, flexible and a team player. Will also have a fine mix of tactical and strategic skills with strong execution and a customer focus. Emotional intelligence is important in this role.
  • Languages: Fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical), Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. An MBA is a plus but not required.
