THE COMPANY

Barbachano International has been retained to seek a Procurement Director for our client, a global design, engineering, and manufacturing company that sells product solutions to the white goods, EV & Commercial industries. We leverage our product portfolio into adjacent markets and after-sales channels. Our client manufactures more than 10,000 sophisticated controls for commercial and home appliances. Primary applications include controls for clothes washers and dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, electric and gas cooking, ice makers, fluid dispensing, storage water heaters, gas valves for space/central heating, and automotive/off road temperature and fluid controls. Their global headquarters is located very near to Chicago, Illinois, USA. The company employs over 6,000 employees in 14 countries, has 3 engineering centers, and 12 manufacturing locations.

THE POSITION

Our client is seeking a Procurement Director who will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the purchasing strategy, ensuring processes meet company and quality standards.

Primary functions:

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies for all tactical.
  • Will be responsible for 9 commodities, a spend of over $180M supporting al Mexico sites, 3 plants (6 buildings) in multiple cities throughout Mexico.
  • Responsible for all purchasing process related with direct components, materials and services to support manufacturing operations.
  • Responsible for aligning capabilities and leading over 8 tactical buyers in multiple locations and countries.
  • Supervising purchasing team’s ensuring the correct supply of components, materials and number of parts to maintain material targets.
  • Drive internal adoption to established procurement policy and process, strategic sourcing, supplier selection, proposal analysis, contract negotiations, supplier database management and purchase order creation.
  • Ensuring follow up established procurement policy and process, strategic sourcing, supplier selection, proposal analysis, clarification, contract negotiations, supplier database management and purchase order creation.
  • Assist in driving key procurement initiatives to support the ongoing transformation and continuous improvement of systems and processes in the procurement organization along with other projects.
  • Supports new processes, special programs and new production lines in indirect purchasing assuring adequate delivery, quality and cost of equipment and tools needs for projects.

Management of Buyers:

  • Select talent and develop their skills of purchasing department.
  • Lead buyers to meet target metrics.
  • Management of overall team performance including annual appraisals
  • Phase in and phase out of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for all buyers.
  • Effectively manages task breakdown.

Supplier Management:

  • Ensure suppliers meet key performance objectives.
  • Lead development of supplier strategies to meet Company performance and growth.
  • Support supply risk assessment
  • If required participate in supplier audits, and capability assessments.
  • Provide data for forecast and performance reviews with key suppliers to support supply planning and buffer demand volatility.

Operations Support:

  • Track line down occurrences due to material shortages and perform root cause analysis.
  • Implement corrective actions to remove supply chain risk.
  • Ensure expeditious delivery of all critical materials.
  • Drive improvement initiatives with production management as applicable.

Cost and Contracting:

  • Support annual cost reductions to achieve corporate plan.
  • Lead implementation of business and quality agreements w to secure expectations for delivery, quality, cost and other obligations of the business relationship.

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or similar relevant field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain / Materials / Procurement with at least 3+ years as a Sr Procurement Manager or Director of Procurement.
  • Must be hands-on (tactical) and have a fine mix of strategic and tactical procurement in America (USA, Mexico, Canada, etc.).
  • Must have experience with at least one (ideally two plus commodities): resins, plastic components, coated/painted parts, die castings, metal components & plated parts, electronics (i.e., PCBA’S, resistors, motors, electro-mech parts, etc.), brackets & grills, etc.
  • Knowledge of PLEX ERP is a plus.
  • Strong Excel, Power BI and Database skills.
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment with plant leaders as well as finance leaders.
  • Ideal candidate will be a strong leader who is very results oriented, an excellent problem-solver, and one to makes things happen.
  • Fully bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
