THE POSITION

We have been retained to find their National Sales Director. The ideal candidate will be a strategic business developer and effective closer, with an entrepreneurial spirit and natural leadership skills. The National Sales Director will act as a dynamic player/coach, balancing leadership with hands-on sales efforts to drive growth in the US market. This proactive leader will secure new business, mentor a growing sales team, achieve revenue goals, foster a positive culture, and maintain strong client relationships, all while working remotely and adapting quickly to industry changes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Developing and executing strategic sales plans to achieve revenue growth and market share expansion in the US and Canada, with a hands-on approach to market penetration.
  • Business Development: Actively leading efforts in the sales process by identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities, playing a direct role in achieving sales targets and setting an example for the team.
  • Team Leadership: Managing and mentoring a small sales team, contributing to the recruitment and training of new members as the team grows, and leading by example in sales activities to inspire a result-driven environment.
  • Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with distributors, large clients, and other key industry stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships, using a hands-on approach to customer engagement.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Providing regular sales reports and forecasts to stakeholders, analyzing market trends to identify new opportunities, and directly contributing to strategic adjustments.
  • Training & Development: Leading training sessions to ensure that the sales team is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively represent the company’s products and deliver results, blending hands-on training with strategic guidance.
  • Culture & Customer Service: Fostering a positive team culture, ensuring that customer service standards are maintained through direct interaction with key accounts, contributing to an exceptional client experience.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Industry Experience: A strong background in sales within the fuel industry or related sectors, with familiarity in working with clients such as Fuel Jobbers, Distributors, and Oil Companies.
  • Proven Sales Leadership & Hands-On Approach: A demonstrated track record of driving sales growth both individually and through leading a team, with the ability to balance hands-on sales efforts and team leadership.
  • Strategic & Analytical Mindset: The ability to develop strategic plans and analyze market trends to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders across different time zones and regions.
  • Adaptability: The flexibility to work independently in a remote setup while quickly learning about industry nuances and market dynamics.
  • Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel up to 40% of the time to meet clients, attend industry events, and support the sales team as needed.
