THE POSITION
The Manufacturing Engineer Manager is based in Reynosa, Mexico and will be reporting to the Director of Operations and will play a major role in influencing and collaborating with employees at all levels of the organization. Ideal candidates will have the right blend of leading and coaching the team but also know when to carry out results through Continuous Improvement and Lean methodology practices. The Manufacturing Engineer Manager is responsible for supporting the Reynosa Manufacturing Campus (up to 5 plants) and lead a broad range of state-of-the-art technology focused on developing processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity of the organization.
Position Requirements:
- The Manufacturing Engineer Manager will be responsible for developing a complete project plan including resources, costs, benefits and schedule; assume full responsibility for all aspects of the project to ensure it meets goals and schedule; communicate project status to stake holders as appropriate; and follow up to ensure project results are sustained.
- Working with operators, (5) engineering team leaders, value stream managers, and planners to optimize process center layouts and designs incorporating material flow and line balancing.
- Will be applying Lean tools, communicate effectively with the leadership team regarding liabilities, lead and facilitate kaizen activities encouraging cross-functional groups to participate and meet common goals.
- Contribute to the development of the annual business unit and Integrate Management System (PIMS) implementation plan based on value stream maps, the annual business unit metric deployment and management system assessment to drive waste reduction while improving employee safety.
- Responsible for the Engineering Change Order (ECO) processing – authorization of product and documentation changes.
- Will maintain BOM and Routings
- Develop and complete IQ’s and cost estimates for new products.
- Maintain BOM, routings and set-up hours.
- Formal communication on issue resolution for field performance issues.
- Interaction with production, purchasing, and operations management on daily plant matters.
- Develop tooling, fixtures, gauging, instructional aids, and improved layouts.
- Develop and implement plans for cost reduction and plant efficiency improvements.
THE CANDIDATE
- Advance user in computer programs including AutoCAD, Solidworks, MS Office, MRP (JD Edwards preferred),
- 10+ years of experience working in a Metal Mechanics Manufacturing environment focused on Metal Cutting, Metal Bending, MIG, TIG and Spot Welding, Powder paint lines and Fabrication experience.
- Proven experience working with Amada CNC turret punch & laser cutting machines, Fanuc, Cincinnati or Allen Bradley controls.
- Proven experience working with Punch Press Stamping machines and Press Barkes Machines for bending light mild steel and stainless steel.
- Ample experience required in MIG and TIG welding manufacturing processes & equipment. American Welding Standards (AWS) Certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience on development and conversion of standard manual manufacturing processes to fully automated cells using edge technology for robotics welding, polishing and assembly.
- Advance knowledge, on PLC programming, Electronics, Hydraulics, Welding methods, and Robotics.
- Demonstrated Experience in Project Management is a must, preferably having a Project Management certification.
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt is a must.
- Experience in implementing and leading Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
- Experience using DMAIC concepts in a project environment.
- Experience in a Lean Culture with drive towards standardization.
- Lead and support capital expenditure requests and implementations using basic cost justification and business management principles.
