THE COMPANY

Our client, a  fast growing successful privately owned Automotive Manufacturing organization Tier 1 supplier to Global leaders, is seeking an Assistant Supply Chain Manager for their San Antonio Plant Locations. This highly motivated, technically savvy supply chain leader must have experience working in a fast-paced work environment, enjoy the freedom to execute strong analytical planning skills and the vision to execute the goals and objectives of the organization. Candidate must have a proven track record of  success in the automotive industry supporting multi-site locations and attending the optimal flow of materials and shipping goods. Responsibilities include  managing the supply chain flow and successfully implementing the company controls and performance by creation and implementation of corporate processes, process maps, procedures and key tool elements in order to take the organization to the next level.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position is responsible for leading the forecasting of raw material needs, inventory planning, purchasing, warehousing of raw material, and inbound and outbound logistics. This position is responsible for continuously improving the supply chain processes of the assigned site(s).

  • Manage daily support of production needs such as expediting material, setting priorities and addressing supply issues.
  • Manages Production Department schedule by Master Schedules/Pattern Wheel
  • Manage and monitor order rates, inventory levels, and delivery plans. Schedule deliveries as necessary to prevent backorders or excess stock.
  • Track supplier on-time delivery while optimizing cost and inventory.
  • Set inventory targets and order points.
  • Review requirements for releasing orders for purchase and manufacture of goods.
  • Manage supply chain projects on time and within budget.
  • Initiate and lead cross-functional projects to improve processes and costs.
  • Develop a core understanding of the business cost drivers and their impact on operations.
  • Provide effective team leadership to develop and maintain a robust team. Mentor and assist others in expanding their skill sets and knowledge base.
  • Prepare performance reports, identifying issues and recommending corrective action.
  • Work with Quality to manage rejections and returns with vendors.
  • Operate in a continuous improvement mode focusing on quality, cost and delivery.
  • Oversee the physical warehouses, material distribution, and coordination of annual physical inventories.
  • Oversee the outbound shipping operation, ensuring on-time, in-full delivery to customers.
  • Rectify and/or reconcile differences and inaccuracies that have to do with shipment and deliveries to customers.
  • Manage EDI systems with Customers and Vendors.
  • Identify freight-savings opportunities through improved utilization, reduction in fees, etc.
  • Ensure all shipping and warehouse operations have proper material handling equipment and resources to complete tasks in a safe and timely manner.
  • Enforce and implement company policy, safety rules and regulations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and knowledge of MRP required along with a demonstrated understanding of purchasing practices, supply chain management practices, bills of material, print reading and understanding, and knowledge of material control.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, supply chain or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in supply chain in a manufacturing environment, automotive preferred.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: • APICS or ISM Certification preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and  in the use of e-mail, web browser applications.
  • Working experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong Mathematical Abilities
  • Strong analytical, planning skills and critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement. Ability to work logically and systematically with effective time management.
  • Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions.
  • Ability to effectively prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures, reports, presentations.
  • Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization and cross functional teams.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage a variety of projects and tasks.
  • Takes initiative, approaches others in a positive and constructive manner, and works well independently to achieve results.
