We have been retained by a global leader in high speed and high-density connection systems dedicated to delivering innovative products and services to their customers worldwide. This global leader has sales of over $11 billion USD and currently seeks an FP&A Manager to be responsible for financial planning and analysis for 5 manufacturing business units. These manufacturing operations are based in the Mexicali, Mexico manufacturing campus just across the border from Calexico, California.
THE POSITION
The FP&A Manager supports corporate controller with strategic planning, financial modeling, budgeting / forecasting and process improvements for 5 business unit with separate P&L’s. Drives business partnerships with an emphasis on collaboration and information sharing. Provides accurate weekly and monthly P&L forecasts. A successful candidate must interact with operations teams frequently and be willing to work within all levels of the organization. This FP&A Manager must have a strong FP&A background to join a growing global business and support the operation in Mexicali, BC, Mexico that manufactures High Speed Cable Products for telecommunications, Information systems, E-Vehicles, Industrial, Medical and many other sectors. This position is a REMOTE / VIRTUAL position and can be based anywhere in Southwest USA (i.e., California, Arizona or Nevada, preferably within a reasonable drive or flight like San Diego, Irvine, Riverside, Orange County, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Fresno, Yuma, Nogales, Tucson, Phoenix). This position requires a little travel up to 3 days per month to Mexicali, Mexico.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities:
- Create and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts, etc.).
- Provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
- Develop financial models and tools to improve forecasting process.
- Work with management team to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making.
- Drive process and policy development initiatives that impact operational performance.
- Helps with month-end closing.
- Supports corporate controller based in the USA corporate headquarters with detailed financial analysis, resolving issues and special projects.
- Initiates and drives BI data to integrate, analyze and deliver information.
- Increases company-wide business acumen through financial presentations, information sharing sessions and learning events.
- Identifies trends or outliers in business to address opportunities with the different business unit partners. Expected to understand each organization entire financial performance.
- Manages quarterly rolling forecasts, helps business partners, analyzes, and adjusts numbers.
- Refreshes monthly and quarterly financial presentations a modern look using the most relevant data.
- Ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects to assist management in understanding business performance.
- Manages preparation of the short-term and long-term operating plan, including accumulation of data from variance departments.
- Drives the continuous improvement of the key FP&A functions to improve reporting and decision making.
- Provides analysis to support decisions with critical business impact (Capital Expenditures, process improvements, new product development, etc.).
- Provides guidance, supports and interacts with finance staff in Mexicali manufacturing operations.
THE CANDIDATE
- At least 7 years of overall finance and/or accounting experience with at least 5 years of FP&A experience. Previous experience as a Sr. FPA Analyst, hands-on FP&A Manager or Finance Manager in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in financial analysis, forecasting and budgets, information analysis and financial reporting. (minimum 5 years of experience)
- Proficient in MS Office, EXCEL, ERP, and financial software applications (AX Dynamics preferred). Hyperion preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to interact with members across the organization. Must be a team player.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines.
- Requires ability to set goals and objectives and to set and meet timelines to achieve goals and objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. MBA or Master’s degree a plus.
- English fluency required. Spanish is a plus.
- Must be a US Citizen or legal resident (no sponsorship available).
- Valid passport able to travel once or twice per month to Mexicali, Mexico.
