THE POSITION

Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for analyzing production costs, maintaining accurate cost records, and supporting leadership with data-driven insights that improve operational efficiency and profitability.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working closely with operations, finance, and supply chain teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Perform monthly cost variance analysis and present findings to management.
  • Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accuracy of BOMs, routings, and production reporting.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits and cycle counts.
  • Prepare cost models for new products, process changes, and capital projects.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to understand cost drivers and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing costs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost analysis.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification.
  • Experience in high-volume or complex manufacturing operations.
