They are also a diversified packaging solutions provider with a large global footprint. They currently seek a Sr Sourcing Manager based in their state-of-the-art Manufacturing site to lead its next growth phase, diversify supplier base and reduce costs.
THE POSITION
The Senior Sourcing Manager is responsible for creating competitive advantages through the development and implementation of strategies that deliver lowest total cost, ensure continuity of material supply, and build and maintain relationships with our key suppliers for PFG’s (Premium Fine Goods) and Raw materials.
Key job responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing the Tijuana mega site Supply Chain Procurement department.
- Manage the project’s timeline for raw material changes or vendor transitions in collaboration with a cross functional team.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers globally to diversify the global supplier base.
- Develop Strategic-sourcing plans for different commodities like paper, labels, printing, packaging, and plastics.
- Lead contracts negotiation in collaboration with Corporate Counsel.
- Analyze market trends, including commodity index, currency fluctuation, geopolitical instability, or any other variables that could influence the Service, Cost, and Compliance.
- Manage inflation / deflation by developing actionable options to offset negative impacts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, foster collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop, Monitor, and Manage the performance of assigned suppliers to achieve service, cost, quality, and asset goals.
- Partner with Supplier, Engineering, R&D and Marketing in support of ongoing Productivity projects, as well as identifying future productivity projects (develop pipeline cost out opportunities).
- Develop a mitigation plan by commodity or PFG (Premium Fine Goods) reducing the risks associated with a Supply chain disruption.
- Lead the Supplier’s assessment in collaboration with other key areas, reviewing supplier’s capabilities, quality standards, product compliance, supply chain & financial stability.
- Be the point of contact for marketing department for any new initiative that involves new raw materials.
- Lead the PFG (Premium Fine Goods) and RM (Raw Materials) bids, identifying the most appropriate vendor based on the companies’ needs and the overall sourcing strategy.
THE CANDIDATE
- 5+ years prior Sourcing Manager Experience with global sourcing (Required).
- Experience managing a team
- Well versed in purchasing techniques such as strategic sourcing, supplier selection, bid generation, developing and negotiating contracts, supplier management, supplier assessments, and supply chain logistics.
- Must have advanced experience negotiating pricing, terms, and lead times.
- Understanding of spot prices and trade compliance costs
- Asia/China sourcing knowledge and experience.
- Experience with commodities like paper, packaging, labels, plastics, and printing is a plus.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills and solid business acumen.
- Supplier Quality or plant quality management experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with multiple functions, sites, and suppliers.
- Solid analytical and data analysis skills for decision making.
- Ideal candidate, loves to learn, is curious, emotionally intelligent, and a good negotiator
- Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office software. ERP / MRP and WMS knowledge preferred.
- Bilingual – English and Spanish. English fluency is necessary (both spoken and written)
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, International Business, or a related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate degree is a plus.
- Will require up to 40% travel to North America/South America/Asia, as needed. Need to have proper travel documentation for International travel.
