THE POSITION
The Sales Engineer serves as the vital operational pivot between global field sales agents, internal technical experts, and international equipment vendors to drive commercial accuracy and operational speed. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the mission of this role is to manage the end-to-end technical quotation lifecycle and purchase order validation for heavy industrial machinery, spare parts, and complex equipment packages. By rapidly translating vague field requests into precise commercial proposals, the Sales Engineer eliminates sales bottlenecks, protects commercial margins, and directly impacts the company’s growth across international markets.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Quotation Management
- Revise incoming field requests and opportunity tickets for technical completeness, resolving missing parameters or regional terminology differences before quote generation.
- Liaise with equipment vendors and suppliers to obtain current pricing, lead times, and technical specifications for diverse industrial product lines.
- Build precise cost/margin worksheets and commercial quotes—ranging from rapid 5-item replacement parts to complex 200-line seasonal capital budgets—for supervisory approval.
- Maintain a rapid turnaround pace while managing an active pipeline of 15 to 20 complex quotation opportunities simultaneously.
Purchase Order Verification & System Integrity
- Perform rigorous quality control on incoming customer Purchase Orders (POs), verifying part numbers, descriptions, pricing validity, and payment terms against original quotations.
- Collaborate directly with field sales agents to reconcile discrepancies or missing details prior to order entry.
- Input validated PO data into Salesforce to trigger logistics and fulfillment workflows seamlessly.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with internal engineering teams to clarify complex customer requirements and confirm component compatibility.
- Maintain clean documentation, quote histories, and tracking records in Salesforce.
- Contribute to refining quoting templates, pricing price lists, and CRM processes to increase organizational efficiency and quotation speed.
Key 12-Month Performance Benchmarks
- Quotation Accuracy: Achieve a 98%+ accuracy rate on pricing, component specifications, and margin calculations across ~600 annual quotes.
- Turnaround Velocity: Maintain prompt, predictable quote response times without creating sales bottlenecks for urgent field inquiries.
- Order Processing Precision: Ensure flawless reconciliation of incoming POs into Salesforce to minimize post-sale operational delays.

Key Candidate Requirements
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in technical inside sales, cost estimating, or technical customer support within heavy industrial manufacturing or distribution.
- Proven record of accomplishment handling technical spare parts and machinery components (e.g., pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, chains, or heavy process equipment).
- Hands-on experience preparing multi-line commercial quotations and reviewing industrial Purchase Orders for commercial and technical accuracy.
- Demonstrated success operating within international Latin American markets; prior experience in agro-industrial processing or process mills is a distinct advantage.
- Hands-on experience utilizing Salesforce or similar enterprise CRM platforms for opportunity tracking and pipeline management.
Skills
- Bilingual Fluency: Native or full professional fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal) is required to manage vendor purchasing in English and customer relations in Spanish.
- Technical Acumen: Ability to quickly interpret technical drawings, component descriptions, and machinery specs to identify exact spare parts.
- Software Stack: Proficiency in Salesforce (or enterprise CRM software), advanced Microsoft Excel skills for margin worksheets/costing models, and video-conferencing platforms for technical alignment.
